Wheels for rent

Mechanic Petr, having worked in a transport company for more than 15 years, gained a reputation as a reliable specialist. But behind the facade of integrity lurked a cunning scheme that caused significant damage to the company.

How it happened:

  1. The problem of weak control.  Peter noticed that the company kept records of tires only formally, and their condition was checked only visually. This created a loophole for the implementation of his plan.
  2. Scheme.  Peter began removing new tires from trucks, replacing them with old tires that could still look good. He rented out the removed tires to private carriers or sold them on the secondary market.
  3. Income.  For each batch of “rented” tires, Peter received additional income, significantly exceeding his official salary. The company suffered losses due to the constant need to purchase new tires.

Disclosure:

  • Implementation of Waliot.  The company management installed the Waliot fleet management platform, which included modules for photo recording and maintenance accounting. Now, each operation with tires required attaching photos before and after work, and the serial numbers of the tires were entered into the database.
  • Identification of discrepancies.  The system showed that the serial numbers of the tires on the car did not match those that were originally installed. When comparing the dates of the photos and records, it turned out that the replacements were made unreasonably often.
  • Evidence.  Photographic evidence with dates and data from the Waliot database became irrefutable evidence of fraud. Petr was summoned to the investigation, where he could not explain the origin of the installed tires.

Results:

  1. Reduced losses.  After implementing a control system using Waliot, the cost of purchasing tires was reduced by 42%.
  2. Increased transparency:  Photographic recording and integration of serial number data have helped prevent similar situations from recurring.
  3. Reorganization of accounting.  The management introduced mandatory inspection of the condition of key components before each trip with photo recording in real time.

Waliot Advantages:

  • Automation of accounting of transport components;
  • Transparent maintenance and service process;
  • Elimination of human factor and fraud.

The Waliot system helped the company not only prevent further thefts, but also regain control over the entire fleet.
