Unloading data from CAN bus

CAN bus (Controller Area Network) is an industrial standard for data transmission that integrates various sensors and actuators of a vehicle into a single network. Data transmission is carried out in serial, broadcast and packet mode, ensuring reliable interaction between all components of the system.

CAN bus allows you to receive over 30 different vehicle parameters, from the state of the ignition switch to the calculation of the areas processed by agricultural machinery. Thanks to this technology, there is no need to install many additional control devices, which significantly simplifies operation and reduces costs.

Advantages of using CAN bus:

  • Maintaining the vehicle warranty. CAN bus allows you to use the standard vehicle systems without interfering with the design, which does not violate the terms of the manufacturer’s warranty.
  • Obtaining factory data. Provides access to information provided by the vehicle manufacturer.
  • Saving on additional equipment. There is no need to install separate sensors for most standard parameters.
  • High noise immunity. CAN bus operates reliably even in conditions of intense electromagnetic interference.
  • Error control system. Ensures accurate data transfer and automatic error correction.

Despite the extensive list of vehicles (more than 1,100 models) that support CAN bus, not all vehicles can transmit data to the fleet management platform Waliot. This is due to differences in configuration and limitations of some models. For example, fuel data from the CAN bus may not be available, and in such cases it is necessary to install fuel level sensors, which, by the way, have greater accuracy.

To clarify the list of supported vehicles and the list of parameters available for uploading to the system, it is recommended to contact the Waliot technical support service. Experienced specialists will help you determine what data can be obtained from a specific car and offer the best monitoring solution.

CAN bus is a universal tool that, if properly configured and integrated, provides reliable and effective control over the condition and operation of the vehicle.
