Fuel consumption control GLONASS/GPS

One of the most important problems in managing fleets of vehicles or special equipment is fuel consumption control. Many drivers and equipment operators use various fraudulent schemes with fuels and lubricants. In some cases, it is a simple drain of fuel and lubricants, in others – more complex methods (for example, theft “from the return line”, odometer adjustment, underfilling at the gas station, etc.). The result is always the same – increased costs and decreased business profitability.

The problem can be solved by installing a fuel consumption monitoring system. It is a hardware and software solution based on GPS/GLONASS satellite positioning sensors. Trackers are installed on vehicles and allow real-time monitoring of key performance indicators of a truck or other vehicle, including the exact location, fuel level in the tank, and fuel consumption indicators.

Who will benefit from a fuel monitoring system?

A study conducted in 2023 showed that fuel costs account for approximately 30-35% of the total fleet costs. At the same time, for companies with a fleet of more than 100 vehicles, this figure may exceed 40-45%. This is due to the fact that as the enterprise grows, it becomes increasingly difficult to organize proper accounting and control of fuel, which is used by unscrupulous drivers and managers. In such situations, you cannot do without modern technical means. According to statistics, they allow you to reduce the use of fuels and lubricants by 20-40%, which, given the current prices for fuels and lubricants, is very noticeable for the budget.

Methods of fuel level control:

  • calculation based on fuel consumption standards. It is made on the basis of the values adopted at the enterprise for each vehicle. Such standards are entered into the fuel monitoring program, which independently calculates consumption based on the mileage traveled by the vehicle over a certain period of time. This method is not considered very accurate and gives an error of about 5-6%;
  • a standard fuel consumption sensor. If information from it is transmitted via the CAN bus, it can be read and used for control. The method is convenient in that it does not require additional work with the fuel tank. At the same time, its accuracy can fluctuate within a fairly wide range and in some cases exceed 10%;
  • an immersion sensor. It is installed in the fuel tank, records consumption and refueling. It can be analog, digital and frequency. The most accurate are digital sensors (error up to 2%);
  • a flow sensor. Measures the volume of fuel that passes through it. Thanks to this, the user receives real actual data on consumption. At the same time, the sensor does not allow you to control refueling and draining;
  • an ultrasonic sensor. One of the most accurate methods of fuel control GLONASS. Its error does not exceed 1%. The main disadvantages are high cost and sensitivity to the external environment.

OOO “First Monitoring Company” installs fuel control systems in Krasnodar and other cities of the Krasnodar Territory. We offer modern solutions based on machine learning technology. They have the following advantages:

  • stable operation under any conditions;
  • high accuracy and reliability of the data received;
  • convenient and intuitive software;
  • visual reports;
  • possibility of a trial demo mode.

You do not have to be in Krasnodar to monitor fuel consumption. Remote monitoring can be carried out from anywhere in the world and from any device. We use a progressive web application that does not require installation. You can launch it from a PC, tablet, phone, and even TV.

How do careless drivers make money in most cases? Of course, by stealing fuel.

What tricks do they come up with to drain and then sell corporate fuel and lubricants? Here are some of the tricks we encounter in our work. Making a tee and installing it in the fuel system of a car, thereby stealing from the “return”. A banal drain from the tank using a hose and a “bulb”. Thrifty driving with inflated standards. Fraud with odometer adjustment. Underfilling at a gas station.
