Barrel for sale

Mechanic Sergei, who was responsible for refueling vehicles at the company’s base, found a way to secretly sell fuel, writing it off as non-existent needs for the fleet.

How it happened:

  1. False refueling.  Sergey recorded refueling of cars that were not actually used in flights. The fuel supposedly filled into the tanks of cars was actually drained into a third-party tank.
  2. Covering up the tracks.  Forging accounting documents allowed concealing the actual amount of fuel released from the storage facility. The reporting looked credible because each “filling” was supported by data from the absent driver.
  3. Sales on the side.  Sergey sold fuel from the tank at a reduced price, establishing permanent “distribution channels.”

Disclosure:

  • Waliot Installation:  The management implemented a system equipped with a fuel monitoring function by connecting fuel level sensors (FLS) to each vehicle.
  • Monitoring of gas stations.  Waliot began to track the actual volumes of gas stations and compare them with the actual fuel level in the tanks of cars.
  • Artificial intelligence.  The system recorded suspicious deviations in the data. For example, the recorded change in the fuel level did not correspond to the volume stated in the reports.

Final:

  1. Evidence.  During the investigation, it was revealed that Sergey had organized a scheme that had been in operation for 6 months. Thanks to data from Waliot, it was possible to confirm the fact of thefts in the amount of more than 350,000 rubles.
  2. Optimization of processes.  After the exposure, the Waliot system was integrated with the company’s fuel terminals, which made the fuel accounting process fully automatic and eliminated the influence of the human factor.

Benefits of the Waliot fleet management platform:

  • Accurate measurement of fuel levels in tanks and cisterns;
  • Control over each stage of fuel and lubricant movement;
  • Notifications about suspicious expenses or refills.

Now the company knows exactly where every drop of fuel goes, eliminating any possibility of fraud.
