Double tank – double benefit?

Driver Sergey worked on a long-haul route between Krasnodar and Rostov. The company’s truck was equipped with a Waliot monitoring system with fuel level sensors (FLS), but Sergey decided that he could outsmart this system.

Course of events:

  1. Sergey arranged with a mechanic at a local service station to install a hidden additional tank. This tank was not connected to the monitoring system and remained “invisible” to the sensors.
  2. At the gas station, Sergey pretended to fill up the main tank. In reality, a significant portion of the fuel was being pumped into a hidden tank.
  3. Later, Sergey sold fuel from the second tank to other drivers on the highway, sharing the proceeds with the mechanic. The Waliot system recorded normal fuel consumption, but the mileage and volume of fuel filled up began to arouse suspicion among the management.

The company owner, noticing regular discrepancies between the mileage and the volume of fuel filled, initiated an inspection through the Waliot platform. The system’s advanced features allowed for a detailed analysis of routes, refueling stations, and the operation of fuel sensors. Using video recording and analysis of refueling speed, the company’s specialists discovered that Sergey had been manipulating equipment at gas stations.

Result:

  • Sergei and the mechanic were exposed, which prevented further fraud.
  • As a result of the implementation of additional monitoring functions, including control over refueling times, fuel volumes and the use of video cameras, it was possible to reduce fuel losses by 42%.
  • The company has strengthened control over service stations and now checks the compliance of installed equipment with the original configuration, using the capabilities of the Waliot system.

Modern monitoring solutions such as Waliot not only help prevent such schemes, but also provide transparency at all stages of work with transport. This allows managers to effectively manage the vehicle fleet and minimize losses.
